Day of Action!
On Labor Day Monday, we are planning to use the people power gathered for our wedding to have a day of action and community service. Plan on staying in NJ until late Monday afternoon. This will be the perfect chance to do good for the community while also getting to hang out in a relaxed atmosphere.
The project we have planned is to volunteer together on a local farm and glean produce that will be donated to foodbanks serving northern New Jersey, including the soup kitchen in Morristown. It will be organized through America’s Grow-a-Row, a New Jersey non-profit that grows and donates food for the hungry while supporting local farms.
We will meet at 10:45 am at brunch at the Westin to organize carpools. We will definitely be harvesting produce. Come wearing clothes and sturdy shoes you can get dirty in, with a reusable water bottle, and wearing sun protection. We will provide simple lunches to eat at picnic tables and coolers to refill your water bottles. We will likely be at Peaceful Valley Orchards, located at 150 Pittstown Road, Pittstown, NJ, which is right by Route 78 (making for a quick exit directly towards Newark or New York). Plan to stay until between 2pm and 4pm.
